Obituary, Convoy Signal, July 25, 1919
After an illness of several weeks Ray F. Tope, of Wren, died at the homeof his father-in-law, Henry Ainsworth, in Harrison township, Monday, July21st, 1919, from the effects of Cronic Lephritis, at the age of 25 years,4 months and 1 day. Funeral services were held Thursday at the U.B.Church in Wren, conducted by Reb. Arnold. Interment in Woodland cemeteryat Van Wert.

"A Fatal Accident
"To a Respected Van Wert

" Melvin Tope, aged 59 years was thrown from a lumber wagon Monday noonand, received injuries from which he died thirteen hours later.
"Mr. Tope and wife had hitched a team of young horses to a lumber wagonin the barn yard at their residence home, one mile north of Wren, whenthe team became unmanageable, tipped the wagon and dragged Mr. Tope downbetween the wagon and a wire fence, the wagon wheels passing over hisbody in such manner as to cause his death at about the midnight hour ofMonday night.
"Mrs. Tope managed to climb out of the wagon when the horses startedand, although too frightened to render her husband assistance. was awitness to his injuries and first to summoned assistance. Mr. Topesuffered internal hemorrhage and after being carried into the house,informed the friends present that his injuries were fatal.
"Deceased was a citizen of exemplary life and his death has made a timeof sorrow for a large circle of acquaintances. The wife, two sons and twodaughters are the survivors of the family.
The funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the U.B. church at Wren."

"Emma Viola Roush, nee Tope, was born in Van Wert county, O., August20, 1867, and died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Tope inBriceton, O., February 21, 1914, aged 46 years, 6 months and 1 day.
"She was united in marriage to Perry Roush in August 1887. To thisunion were born 10 children, 6 sons, 4 daughters, 2 daughters havingproceeded her to the better world. She leaves to mourn her departure herhusband, 6 sons, 2 daughters, her parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
"The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 1:00 from the home of herparents at Briceton, O., Rev. G. M. Baumgardner officiating and intermentwas made in St. Paul's cemetery.
"Farewell dear Emma, sweetly rest,
Weary with years and worn with pain.
Farewell, till in some happy place
We shall behold Thy face again.
Tis ours to miss thee, all our years,
