Roy was born at the Levi Tope farm.

The family Bible normally spelled the family name as Beiler, butseveral entries spelled it as Beeler. His Department Store in Tipton,Indiana, was name "The Beeler Co." Ed Beeler was the president. So thereis some confusion over the spelling of the surname.
His second store was "Craig & Tope Department Store", and the thirdstore was "Reo Sales Company, Motor Cars & Trucks" with Don Tresidder aspartner.
Roy worked as a salesman for Fairbanks in Chicago, Illinois, in 1918.Then, moving to Connersville, Indiana, he became a partner in Daum Dairy.The partnership was dissolved in a legal action.
He entered the refrigeration business in Connersville, Indiana, andreceived a Hamilton watch as the Frigidaire Sales Leader in 1933. He alsoreceived in 1934 a sales leader ring, and removed the set from the ringfor his son's wedding ring.
At the beginning of World War II the business was moved to Glenwood,Indiana. From 1942 to 1946 he was a machinist at McQuay-Norris inGlenwood making automotive parts
