A. May Tope, 96, Decatur, Ind., died at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lakeside ManorNursing Home, Decatur, where she recently became a resident.
She was born Jan. 4, 1898 in Adams County, Indiana, to S.T. andSarah Catherine (Chronister) Welker. On Feb. 24, 1917, she married GroceWilliam Tope, who died June 23, 1956.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Mary and Joseph Weber,Decatur; three granddaughter, eight great-=grandchildren, twostep-great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and sixstep-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by a son, Robert, six brothers, three sisters and twogreat-grandchildren.
Mrs. Tope was a homemaker and former employee of both Adams Countymemorial Hospital and General Electric Co. She was a member of Mt. ZionUnited Brethren in Christ Church and had attended St. Mark's UnitedMethodist Church and its Keen Agers. She was a member of Senior Citizensand Jolly Housewife Home Ec Club, both of Decatur.
