Note: Seymour Newspaper Obituary Tuesday 13 October 1903,
Peter A. BAYLOR near Promise City died suddenly on 8th October 1903. He
was found by friends some distance from his home having expired before hewas
discovered, perhaps of heart trouble. He was born in Champaign County,Ohio,
in 1834 and was about 69 years old at time of his death. He came with his
parents to VanBuren County, Iowa, in 1854 and later moved to Utica, Iowa,
where he was united in marriage to Miss Saloma MULKINS in 1861. To themwere
born three children, Mrs. Lydia BAUGHMAN, Charles BAYLOR, and Mrs. Katie
CARBAUGH. The wife of his youth died in 1869.
He was converted and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and
lived a devoted christian until death. He was again married in 1875 toMary
BAUGHMAN. To them were born six children, four whom are still livingJames;
Elizabeth Amelia; Mary Ellen; Emella Harriett. Ida Jane died when aninfant
and Matilda Marie died in August 1902. The death of the wife occurred four
days after the daughters death on 1 September 1902.
3 sisters of deceased remain to mourn his death; Mrs. Harriet DEYOE,
Ravanna, Mo, Margaret EBE, Hutchinson, Kansas, and Fannie FREY of GreatBend,
KS. One sister, Mrs Cyrus DEYOE died 3 Aug. 1903.
The funeral services were held in the M. ? Church, Promise City Saturday
10 October 1903, and were conducted by A. E. CLEMENS of this city. Text,
John 17:8. A large congregation of friends and neighbors gathered to pay
their last respects to the departed. The burial in Promise City cemetery.

Sometime after 1880, Frederick moved to Wapello County, Iowa where helived with his son, John BAYLOR in 1886. He died, however, at the homeof his daughter, Mary Jane DEYOE. It is not known if he was visiting orliving with the Deyoe family at the time.
