Walter F. "Wally" Huzzar, 81, of Van Wert, Ohio, a member of St. Mary ofthe Assumption Catholic Church, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at ParkviewHospital in Fort Wayne. The New York native had worked for the NationalSeal Division Federal Mogul Bower Bearings, Chrysler Amplex and retiredfrom General Dynamics in Lima. He was a member of VFW, American Legion,past president of church parish council and a World War II Army Air Corpsveteran. Surviving are his wife, Betty M.; and a daughter, Joyce J.Thomas of Columbus. He was preceded in death by a brother and twosisters. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the AssumptionCatholic Church, Van Wert. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdaywith a 7:45 wake service at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert.Burial with military graveside services will be at Woodland Cemetery, VanWert. Memorials are to Community Health Professionals or the church.

Walter F. "Wally" Huzzar, 81, of Van Wert died 3:23 a.m. Friday, July 26,2002, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Feb. 18, 1921, in New York City, N.Y., the son of the lateJoseph and Anna (Wrengren) Huzzar. On June 24, 1945, in Lima, he marriedBetty Mae Kear, who survives.
Mr. Huzzar worked for 21 years with the National Seal Division, FederalMogul Bower Bearings, 10 years with the Chrysler Amplex in Van Wert, andretired after two years with General Dynamics, Lima.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from Nov. 13,1939, through Aug. 2, 1945, in the American Theater. He was stationed inPanama, British West Indies, Dutch Guiana and Wright-Patterson Field inDayton. He then enlisted in the Naval Air Reserve in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He was life member of Van Wert American Legion and Veterans of ForeignWars posts, an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption CatholicChurch in Van Wert serving as past president of the Parish Council. Heloved music which he shared in many local music groups in Van Wert overthe years, participated in the Van Wert Drum and Bugle Corps, Barber ShopSingers and the Lion's Club Minstrel Shows. He was always an activemember of the St. Mary's Church Choir & Folk Group.
Other survivors include one daughter, Joyce Joan Huzzar Thomas ofColumbus.
He was preceded by a brother, Joseph Huzzar, and two sisters, HelenSpiezio and Frances Martini.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of theAssumption Catholic Church, the Rev. Joseph M. Schmelzer officiating.Burial will be held in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with militarygraveside services conducted by Van Wert American Legion and VFW posts.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Alspach-Gearhart FuneralHome, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are Community Health Professional or the church.

Mrs. Esther Kear, 64, of 236 Burt St., died at 7:30 a.m. today inVan Wert Manor Nursing Home. She had been ill for about six weeks.
Born July 5, 1907 in Hoaglin Township, she was the daughter of Frankand Ora (Epps) Thomas. On June 21, 1937 she married Robert M. Kear whosurvives.
Also surviving is a brother, Lester Thomas, of Union Township.
Mrs. Kear was a housewife and a member of Trinity United MethodistChurch
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Alspach Funeralhome, the Rev. Heth Cort officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

W. L. Kear, esteemed resident of Shaffer Street, died at his home thismorning the result of a heart attack. Mr. Kear had been ill for the pastthree weeks. Mr. Kear was aged 77 years and had spent his entire life inVan Wert. During the early part of his life he engaged in the carpentertrade and later took employment with the Cincinnati Northern Railroad,being associated with that company for many years. His directdescendants are his wife, four sons, Walter Kear, of Toledo, and Harry,Gaylord and Leonard Kear of Van Wert, one daughter, Mrs. Frank Harrison,of Toledo, and two sisters, Mrs. John Resor of Jackson, Michigan, andMrs. John McDarr, of Toledo. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon,at 2:00 o'clock at the family home. Interment will be at Woodlandcemetery.
