Floyd, D. Kear, 55, of Puterboy Street, Cincinnati Northern yardsemployee, it was killed instantly Sunday night when he was struck by awestbound Pennsylvania train while walking _ along the tracks west of thesignal tower and opposite Borden's cement plant.
The tragedy was discovered by Verne Moyer, railroad section man, while hewas engaged in n sweeping the snow from the switches during the .nowstorm.
Patrolmen Tom Sullivan and Russell Guinn were called and papers found onthe body revealed the Identity of the victim. The officers said that thebody was severed at the abdomen and was otherwise badly mutilated. Thebody was removed to The Gamble Alspach Funeral Home.

An investigation, by the officers disclosed that Kear left home about 7P. M. after writing a note stating that he was going to the Inn Hotel tosee a friend. It as learned later that he never made his appearance atthe hotel.
The officers said. however they believed that Kear was en route to thebusiness district when he was struck. presumably by a westbound freighttrain that passed by the tower at 8:05 P. M. A passenger train movedover the tracks at 10:03 and the body was discovered by Moyer at 10:25.
An official finding in the case has not yet been made by Dr. E. H.Alspaugh, county coroner.
Lifelong Resident of City
The deceased was born March 8, 1891 in Van Wert and was a lifelongresident of the city. Years
later he was employed in the Cincinnati Northern. shops and for the pastmonth had worked at the yards and served some as a crossing watchman.
Surviving are his widow, Ethel; four children, Eugene of Shaffer Street,Kenneth in the Navy, Mrs. Margaret Ford of Lima and Mrs. Walter Huzzar ofBrooklyn, N.Y; an aged mother, Mrs. Joseph Kear of Center Street; twobrothers, Robert of South Vine Street and Russell of Bellefontaine; twosisters, Mrs. H. N. Grandstaff of Center Street and Mrs. Harry Palmer ofJackson, Mich., and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 P.M. at the funeral homewith Rev. Ralph Tucker of Wesley Methodist Church of officiating.Friends may call at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlandcemetery.
