Note: Edith Mae Davis, daughter of John & Eliza Ann Prentice Weaver was born September 16, 1905, in Cleghorn Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in that community and it was there that she received her early education.
Edith married Wilford Ernest Davis on February 16, 1924 in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage they moved to Northern Minnesota where they made their home for 4 years. They returned to Iowa, and over the next several years lived in the communities of Spencer and Terril. Edith enjoyed needle work, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She also worked for families, caring for their homes and families.
Edith lived in Sutherland for 7 years as a resident of Millie's Rest Home. Since 1981 she has lived at Longhouse Residence. It was there she passed away on November 3, 1994, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on February 16, 1959; 2 daughters, Phyllis Arlene & Margaret, and 4 sisters.
Edith is survived by 3 daughters; Katherine Knode & her husband John of Estherville, Iowa, Neva Patton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Phyllis Weber and her husband Chuck of Porum, Oklahoma; 2 sons and their wives; Irvin & Elvinah of Mason City, Iowa and Robert & Nancy of Olathe, Kansas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 sister, Nellie Pearson of Spirit Lake, Iowa; 1 brother, John Weaver of Mediapolis, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
