Note: Kenneth was left furniture and a heifer when his grandmother Elizabeth Worthy died in 1842 and with the 194 acres his father deeded him in 1842, he made his start in life. He was elected constable for District 5 in Morre County in 1846 abd served four years.
Over the years Kenneth ran several stores. He became the owner of 3,000 acres near Cameron when owner, Major McDonald, declared bankruptcy. By 1858 he had 4,981 acres in 14 tracts in scattered locations.
Kenneth was residing near the Center Church area when he was elected sheriff in 1850. In 1860 he was re-elected sheriff and served two terms, serving until 1871. He was Treasurer of Moore County in 1888 and he was elected to the N.C. Senate twice, serving in the 1874 and 1876 terms.
